The house
Nero By Shaifali & Satya
A menswear house opened in 2018 to narrow the luxury gap. Bespoke clothing, traditional tailoring, and a cut made for one person.
The label’s range holds craft and style in the same garment, and treats individuality as part of the finish.
Shaifali Mihani and Satya Sharma met at Symbiosis. After graduating, Shaifali worked as a freelance fashion stylist in Mumbai. Satya worked with designers and brands in Ahmedabad. In 2018 they opened Nero together, from a shared interest in menswear that could be styled, comfortable, and particular to the wearer.
The house calls this Bridge to Luxury: the distance between couture making and the men who want it, made shorter. Quality, detail, and traditional tailoring are the method.
Shaifali Mihani
Before design, she painted. As a child she was reserved. Fashion at Symbiosis changed that, and she began as a stylist, building looks that were personal rather than generic. She still describes the work as helping someone feel confident in what they wear.
Satya Sharma
Dancing has been with her since childhood, a way of using the body to say something. Design showed up just as early: she remembers taking saris from her mother’s wardrobe and turning them into a dress or a suit. She is a nature lover, and the pattern of leaves and the colour of flowers remain the things she returns to.
Where the work comes from
The collections draw on cultural craft that is older than the house: Indian embroidery, and pattern from further away, including the colour of Moroccan mosaic. Each piece is meant to carry that making and still read as now. The designers name Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Anita Dongre, and Elie Saab as influences — textiles, silhouette, and couture detail — and then cut menswear from what those practices taught them.
The house has dressed Sonu Sood, Javed Akhtar, Ranveer Singh, and Armaan Malik. Designing for Sonu Sood, and later for Ranveer Singh, is how they describe a turning point: clothes cut for a person’s presence, including colour and detail when the wearer asked for it.
Shaifali Mihani and Satya Sharma were also recognised at an international TEDx event as a young entrepreneur and design partner.
